Understanding the Tabs Template (with Amatsuki's Discography page as our test subject)
</aside>
What’s This Template For?
The Tabs template is used to create clean, clickable navigation tabs across related wiki pages; like switching between Profile, Songs, Discography, and Gallery.
Sounds simple, right? Until you meet Amatsuki’s Discography, which decided to divide itself like a mitotic cell… again, and again, and again.
A Tabs call creates one set of navigation tabs.
You can have multiple Tabs blocks stacked to create hierarchical navigation (will be explained below).
Example:
{{Tabs|tab1=Amatsuki|tab2=Songs|tab3=Discography|tab4=Gallery}}
{{Tabs|subpages=0|tab1=Amatsuki/Discography|tab1name=2011-2015|tab2=Amatsuki/Discography/2016-2020|tab2name=2016-2020|tab3=Amatsuki/Discography/2021-2025|tab3name=2021-2025|tab4=Amatsuki/Discography/2026-2030|tab4name=2026-2030}}
Here, one block controls the main navigation, and the next controls the discography eras.
subpages = 1 vs subpages = 0subpages = 1Automatically assumes that every tab is a subpage of the first. Example:
Amatsuki
├── Songs
├── Discography
└── Gallery
This is great for top-level pages like Amatsuki/Songs or Amatsuki/Gallery.
